LLMT - Today

Fun little shuttle day in some dicey conditions. Nothing like a layer of slop to make some normally predictable corners feel like they are being ridden for the first time. As for the video quality? It was filmed(digitally recorded?) with a Bic pen and a rubber band, obviously. Word to the wise - cheap wide angle lenses from Amazon won't make that cheap Handi Cam any better, and in this case - worse. Kind of cool in an old school, crappy looking film effect though.

Thank The Builders

I think everyone needs to pat themselves on their backs for turning LLMT into an incredibly fun trail despite the journey it took to get here.  I personally would like to say thank you to everyone who put any time into Larch Mountain, and thank you for sticking with it.  I have read quite the plethora of posts focused on complaining about the lack of arduous trails in the Olympia area and personally I find them rather doleful.  Instead of doing such as well, I would like to share a few photos taken on Sunday that might remind everyone why its all worth it.  Lets keep this going!  There will always be room for improvement and every location started somewhere, we may not be as far behind as you may think.

Some digging on LLMT today

Cam and I tuned up The New Line a little today. Pretty dialed in now. Need to do some trimming of the salal roots, but it is otherwise fun, fast and raw. Really looking forward to seeing John's work up top completed. Some magnificent shapes have formed up there. More music by Junip. I'm not good at moderation.

TOOL CHECK

Just picked these beauties up at The Depot. After dealing(poorly) with the puny little blades and pencil stick handles on the standard issue FOCF tools last weekend, these Husky Super Socket's have since caught my eye and at just the right time too. I only have one short session on them transplanting ferns in my yard, so it is really too early to give a thorough review. First impressions are very good though. Super fat, high volume material moving blades. Big Step up top for stomp cutting roots. Steel sleeve reinforced fiberglass handles which should not snap as easily as the wood version. And for The Zealots Amongst Us, please note the lack of pivots.There is something about titanium in the specs, but these things weigh like 29(sub 30 for sure) pounds a piece so it certainly isn't the blade material. Maybe a ti coating. It's obviously not as slippery as that "gold" coating though. Just look at that dirt clinging to the blade. Speaking of. If these guys really wanted to move some units, they should coat them in Kashima and really start shoveling some bull shit onto the market. Now that I think of it, an even better "improvement" would be a 3 position lever for Cache, Transport and Dig modes. I think a Husky/FOX partnership is unavoidable. Prepare to have your intelligence insulted by not only limited tuning of your suspension, but prepare for the final insult to come from your...shovel? Baaa. Buy. C.T.D. Kashima. Shovel.
