Minot Make It - January 19. Are you stupid, I mean tough enough?

Looking for some real adventure far, far from the flow trails? Fall Creek TH stump jump sessions getting old? Ego bruised because you keep getting dropped on the CBC group rides? (and yeah, I know that's not their name anymore) Enduro training getting you down? Need to get away from it all? Want to pedal a bicycle in the woods until the hallucinations set in? Ready to get out of your comfort zone? If the answer is yes, then head down to Chehalis Forest on January 19th for an adventure that you won't soon forget, as much as you might want to. If the answer is no, then continue on your current life path, pre-register here and have a very predictable year with your bottle of blue pills. Or what the hell, maybe try both.

I have no direct connection to this ride but I do think it's mad, and genius all at the same time. No one is responsible for you, or this ride. But if out of appreciation you want to buy someone who has a connection to this madness a beer, look for the person who's name starts with D and ends with J.

To anyone who's been looking for a good bike adventure on a 'cross or mt bike, I think I have something for you. 60-some miles, 7K of climbing, likely all on roads you've never seen before. Sunday, January 19th, 9 am, starting near the Porter Tavern.

Here's a link to a .kmz file so you can view the route on Google Earth. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7yd9e61o4wyipxw/minot%20make%20it%202014_%20pack.kmz

Here's a link to a georeferenced .pdf you can paste into the URL field within Avenza PDF Maps' add map feature. You can use this to follow the whole route. I strongly suggest you get this on your phone if you are going to do the ride. Let me know if you have any issues. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohqqz1ardpvgiev/capmap_minot_make_it.pdf

Here's a link to a picture of the route. If you are a paper map person you may want to get it on some Rite-in-the-rain paper.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/y0nyq0381ludg17/minot%20make%20it.jpg

Enjoy at your own risk. Ride part or all. Have fun.

  3. bad ass. looks like a route i will save for myself as a solo ride in the spring, it would be horrible to have to "keep up" with all of those more athletic beasts in the bunch, good luck rockers!

    1. I think you can get the .kmz file on a Garmin. I think the pdf will be the most helpful. I pasted the url into Avenza PDF Maps to add the map and it loaded the geo-referenced map that includes the outline of the route. I have seen it work for two people but when I tried to load it onto an iPad it told me it was a corrupt file. Let me know if it doesn't load up and I'll figure out some work around.

    2. kmz file doesn't load to Garmin Courses. Rest of your answer is in swahili to me. I'm old and tech-stupid.

  5. Shit. Am is supposed to be training for this? Or does training go against the spirit of the MMI?

    % CHANCE RAIN = 0

Get the map on your phone and show up at Porter Tavern at 9am. Park on the shoulder. The tavern should be ready for us from 2pm onwards. There will be plenty of short route options.
