even if you have lived in a region for a long time there are still mountains yet to explore.
this is the one last set of close-by-hills that i have yet to fully explore, "The Bald Hills". these hills are to the south as you're riding the chehalis western trail from yelm to oly. they have always been such a beautiful part of my dream-scape on those rides.
I've ridden up and over through these hills from centralia several years back, to the towers at the top of crawford mtn and down to a sketchy "cross over a barbed wire fence with no trespassing signs" to get out. but still have yet to check out baumgard hill and it's powerline descent that drops right down to the deschutes river, near Rainier, WA. it is still on the bucket list & hopefully will get to it this summer, but for now it is just a picture perfect hopeful dream with wishful thinking; a dream that needs solidifying.
weyerhaeuser forests with closed yellow gates off of johnson creek road have us stoked for exploration. we keep the dreams alive...
